A delightful Man in the Moon pendant from the early 20th Century adorned with a large, cabochon amethyst with a rich, purple hue, carved with a smiling face on the front.
The Man in the Moon has been a fascination for cultures all around the world for many centuries and became a popular motif in jewellery in the 19th Century due to an increased interest in astronomy.
The face is set in a 9ct gold frame and holds a concealed, three pence coin at the back, dated 1936. It’s a wonderful find and highly collectable.
