Vintage Garnet Paste Enamel Egg Pendant And Silver Chain

This fabulous vintage egg pendant is beautifully decorated with twinkling white pastes, a cabochon garnet on the bottom and teardrop and leaf motifs, highlighted in bright red and green guilloche enamel. 

Guilloche enamel dates to the 17^th century and involves metal carefully worked by a lathe, or “Rose Machine” into a decorative pattern and overlaid with a colourful enamel to create a striking and highly detailed work of art. 

It’s a beautiful design, similar to that of a Faberge egg and is modelled in gold metal and is accompanied by a sterling silver cable chain to display it on.
