A delightful vintage egg dropper necklace, featuring twenty-eight graduated Fabergé-inspired egg droppers suspended from a 9ct yellow gold cable chain. Each egg is unique and fashioned from metal, glass, and polished multi-coloured gemstones. Highlights include glittering “Goldstone” eggs, colourful guilloché enamel eggs, black niello eggs, three silver eggs featuring engraved monograms and a gold egg with a cabochon sapphire in the centre.
Fabergé eggs date back to 1885, when Tsar Alexander III commissioned the goldsmith Fabergé to create an Easter egg as a surprise gift for his wife. This annual tradition inspired other jewellers to craft their own elaborately designed Easter eggs, a theme that continues to captivate collectors and enthusiasts to this day.
