A fabulous vintage harlequin heart pendant encrusted with a colourful assortment of gemstones across the front, cut in a variety of shapes and sizes, ranging from 0.05 to 0.60ct. They include garnet, iolite, spinel, citrine, peridot, amethyst, tourmaline, quartz and a pink ruby.
Harlequin jewellery is named after the colourful costumes of the 16th century comedy actors of the same name. The style was popular during the 19th Century and saw wonderful pieces of jewellery abundantly decorated in coloured gemstones.
The stones are all held in flush, bezel settings in a fabulous open-work gallery, fashioned in 18ct gold. It would make a wonderful gift and showcases a dazzling rainbow of gemstones.
