Details
This wonderful vintage lucky fish pendant charm has been skilfully crafted in bright 9ct yellow gold (stamped 375) and features a clever hinged design, made up of textured scale segments that allow it to wiggle and "swim" with lifelike fluidity. Vibrant ruby eyes are set at the head and a lustrous cultured pearl is held triumphantly in its open mouth.
More than just a quirky novelty piece, this fish charm also serves as a symbol of good luck and perseverance, as in many cultures, the fish represents abundance and the resilience to swim upstream, while the pearl in its mouth traditionally signifies the "Pearl of Wisdom" or a precious, hard-won prize.
Dating to the 1960s – 1970s, this playful novelty fish charm may have once adorned a heavy gold charm bracelet, collected by a woman with an eye for whimsical pieces and would also look beautiful suspended from a gold chain. It’s very collectable and a joy to move and play with.
