Details
A glamorous pair of vintage Victorian-revival opal diamond drop earrings, hallmarked in Birmingham in 1959. Hand-crafted by the prestigious Cropp & Farr, these exquisite drops feature two pear-cut natural opals that dance with electric greens and deep oceanic blues, with a soft orange sunrise glowing around the sides. They’re elegantly suspended from stylised 14k white gold ivy leaves, delicately grain-set with twinkling diamonds.
Victorian nature motifs enjoyed a romantic revival in the mid-20th century, and this enchanting pair showcases two striking opals, a gemstone beloved by Queen Victoria and long associated with hope, creativity, and passion. Ivy leaves, too, were cherished love tokens, symbolising an enduring bond that cannot easily be broken, echoed in the famous Victorian rhyme: “Close clings the ivy to the tree, so in my heart I cling to thee.”
Finished with secure shepherd-hook wires and dazzling pear-shaped opals, these day-to-night earrings effortlessly catch the light and attention, as they sway from each ear. A perfect romantic gift for an October birthday, or a meaningful 65th wedding anniversary.
