Now this is truly special! A magnificent vintage turtle brooch, meticulously crafted in 18ct yellow gold by the renowned Venetian jeweller “Nardi”. An enormous natural opal heart cabochon forms his shell (approx. 20ct), exhibiting vibrant flashes of green, blue, pink and orange that burn and intensify on the surface. It’s framed by twenty cherry-pink rubies (approx. 2.2ct total) and his flippers and tail form graceful tassels, similar to a Venetian Jester hat, and are adorned with glittering brilliant cut diamond droppers, with two diamond eyes set atop the head (approx. 0.80ct total).
Giulio Nardi, established in Venice in the 1920s, was inspired by the city's architecture, art, and culture and aimed to capture its essence in his creations. Renowned for craftsmanship and traditional techniques, his most iconic piece, the Moretto brooch, gained international fame in the 1960s and was worn by Hollywood icons like Grace Kelly and Elizabeth Taylor. Today his family continues his legacy and Nardi remains in Venice, creating jewellery that captures the city's timeless beauty and romantic charm.
