This striking vintage French sapphire and diamond cluster ring was crafted in platinum by the prestigious Parisian jeweller Mauboussin in the mid-20th century. At its centre is a captivating old-cut natural sapphire, displaying a vivid electric cornflower blue hue, surrounded by fourteen sparkling diamonds and two navette-shaped shoulder accents, creating a dramatic cluster design reminiscent of a radiant blue eye.
Founded in Paris in 1827, Mauboussin rose to international prominence during the Art Deco era, captivating Hollywood royalty and elite clientele with its innovative designs. Today, the historic French jewellery house remains a symbol of timeless Parisian luxury.
The ring is accompanied by an E.D.R. certification card confirming the sapphire, weighing approx. 3.30–3.50 carats, is a natural, high-quality stone with no evidence of heat treatment. The surrounding diamonds comprise a mix of repurposed antique old mine cuts and modern brilliant cuts, with a combined estimated weight of 1ct. They are assessed as SI clarity - G–H colour, offering exceptional brilliance against the rich blue sapphire.
The piece features a raised basket setting and a subtly twisted band complete with a faded French platinum mark and Mauboussin signature.
