Details
A classic vintage snake bangle, made in Birmingham by the renowned “Smith and Pepper” in 1964. The bangle is built around a durable steel spring that has been cased in a flexible 9ct yellow gold that expands to fit the wrist comfortably. It’s finished with a serpent’s head and tail that have been delicately engraved and set with pink ruby eyes.
Smith & Pepper was founded by Mr. Smith and his Uncle Mr. Pepper who were based in the Birmingham Jewellery quarter from 1899 to 1981. They were celebrated for their high-quality jewellery, most notably Egyptian-themed snake designs, which grew in popularity after the discovery of King Tutankhamun’s tomb in 1922.
This is a wonderfully designed 1960s snake bangle, that looks beautiful coiled around the wrist and is complete with the maker’s mark and Birmingham hallmarks on the back of the head.
