Product Details
A grand Victorian revival band ring from the mid 20th Century adorned with six high relief cameos around the outside depicting the profile of a woman. They’re exquisitely detailed and expertly hand carved from bullmouth shell, hardstone and shimmering mother of pearls with twelve additional cultured pearls in between.
Roman style Cameo jewellery was highly sought after in the 19th Century during the “Grand Tour” days when tourists developed a fascination with destinations such as Rome. They were a personal favourite of Queen Victoria also and were carved in the same classic style, usually depicting Gods and characters from Roman/ Greek mythology.
The band is crafted in solid 14ct gold with ornate settings and rope borders. It’s an extraordinary statement piece, perfectly capturing the beauty and craftsmanship of Victorian cameo jewellery.
