A fabulous pair of vintage harlequin drop earrings fashioned in 18ct gold. The pair consist of two gemstone encrusted orbs suspended from long gold chains with a dark green spinel top with butterfly stud backs.
Each orb is covered in a colourful assortment of gemstones, cut in a variety of shapes and sizes, ranging from 0.05 to 0.25ct. They include garnet, iolite, spinel, citrine, peridot, amethyst, tourmaline, quartz and a pink ruby.
Harlequin jewellery is named after the colourful costumes of the 16th century comedy actors of the same name. The style was popular during the 19th Century and saw wonderful pieces of jewellery abundantly decorated in coloured gemstones.
They look fabulous swinging from each ear and showcase a dazzling rainbow of gemstones.
